Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) hospitals must comply with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Conditions of Participation (CoP) for CAH. The CMS regulations and interpretive guidelines serve as the basis for determining compliance. In this four‐part webinar, you will learn details about the CoPs and what to do when a surveyor arrives at your facility. Additionally, every section in the CAH hospital manual will be discussed, including updates and changes for 2018.

Part 1 of 4, our speaker will provide an introduction to CMS, including notation of their websites and how to locate various resources. Sue will describe survey protocol. Most importantly, our speaker will discuss the various regulations and interpretive guidelines for CAHs, including compliance, licensure, provider certification, network agreements, credentialing, advanced directives, ED staffing, EMTALA, Equipment and supplies, medication, personnel, emergency response, length of stay, observation (Two midnight rule), swing beds and numbers of beds.
