After multiple failures to advance, Nebraska’s budget bill passed last week with broad support for funding to protect Medicaid retroactive eligibility aligned with HR 1. This week, Senator Machaela Cavanaugh’s amended priority bill LB 958 will be on the floor for debate. If passed with an emergency clause, the bill will negate the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services application for an 1115 Waiver to eliminate retroactive eligibility entirely, including for the disabled, children, and pregnant women.
As LB 958 is debated on the floor, we need you to continue to make your voices heard on this issue.
Without retroactive coverage, a patient who is eligible for Medicaid but unable to apply the moment they fall ill could be left with crushing debt, and our hospitals will face a massive spike in uncompensated care. We need you to act now. Send a message to your State Senator and urge them to reject a zero-day retroactive period by supporting LB 958.
