Say No to Eliminating Retroactive Medicaid Coverage

The Governor’s proposed budget includes the total elimination of Medicaid retroactive eligibility, a shortsighted policy that would increase uncompensated care and administrative burden for hospitals. While the federal HR 1 law, otherwise known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, is already narrowing these windows, the state’s proposal to move to a zero-day retroactive period goes much further, threatening our hospitals and our most vulnerable neighbors.

Without retroactive coverage, a patient who is eligible for Medicaid but unable to apply the moment they fall ill could be left with crushing debt, and our hospitals will face a massive spike in uncompensated care. We need you to act now. Send a message to your State Senator and urge them to reject a zero-day retroactive period.
