The Nurse Internship program connects nursing students in Nebraska with local hospitals to foster professional growth and long-term career placement. By pairing students with experienced mentors, the program strengthens the state’s health care pipeline through direct clinical immersion.
Students gain clinical experience at Nebraska-approved nursing schools while working under the direct supervision of a Licensed RN. Internships last 8 to 30 weeks, with a minimum pay of $18.50/hour and facilities receive a $9.25/hour reimbursement (up to 10 hours/week) and a stipend for each 8-week supervision cycle.
Beyond competitive wages, the program provides assistance for travel and housing to reduce barriers to participation.
The initiative focuses on linking students to local employers early to encourage hiring and retention within Nebraska communities.
