Nebraska Hospital Association launches educational resource for new Medicaid requirements

LINCOLN, Neb. (KSNB) - Nebraska is moving ahead of schedule to implement new Medicaid work requirements.

The changes follow the federal enactment of H.R. 1, the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.” Nebraska is set to become the first state to enforce the law’s new Medicaid work requirements.

Enforcement is scheduled to begin May 1, 2026.

The Nebraska Hospital Association has launched a bilingual website to help residents navigate the new requirements.

The site, MedicaidNebraska.com, offers guidance in English and Spanish.

The goal: help current enrollees and new applicants understand new verification requirements and keep coverage.

“Nebraska hospitals and health systems care deeply about the people in their communities,” said Jeremy Nordquist, president and CEO of the Nebraska Hospital Association.

“Our goal is to ensure every Nebraskan who qualifies for Medicaid has the tools and information they need to keep their coverage,” Nordquist said.

The transition adds new administrative requirements for thousands of Nebraskans, the association said.

The website breaks down changes tied to H.R. 1 and explains new work and verification requirements.

“Medicaid is changing in Nebraska,” Nordquist said. “It’s important that enrollees take action now to understand what’s changing, who’s affected, and what they should do right now to remain covered.”

The Nebraska Hospital Association is urging Medicaid recipients to visit MedicaidNebraska.com to prepare for eligibility changes beginning May 1, 2026.
