Advocacy Institute

OVERVIEW:
Advocacy is the key to securing a strong future for Nebraska’s hospitals and the communities they serve. The NHA Advocacy Institute gives you the tools, knowledge, and confidence to effectively influence policy and protect patient care. Policymakers make decisions based on their beliefs, understanding of issues, and input from experts like you. Your firsthand experience is the most powerful resource we have in shaping legislation that impacts hospitals, patients, staff, and communities.
WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE:
This program is designed for hospital leaders, emerging leaders, and graduates of the NHA Leadership Institute. It is also open to any hospital employee who is interested in becoming more engaged in advocacy and learning how to make their voice heard.
WHAT YOU WILL GAIN:
By participating in the Advocacy Institute, you will develop a strong understanding of the advocacy process and learn practical strategies to effectively engage with policymakers. You will gain the skills to communicate with state and federal leaders, share impactful stories about your hospital and patients, and help influence legislative decisions that affect health care in Nebraska.
PROGRAM DETAILS:
The registration fee for the Advocacy Institute is $199, which includes admission to NHA’s Advocacy Day. Sessions will be held via zoom. All participants who complete the program will be formally recognized during Advocacy Day on March 4, 2026. The program will be held in conjunction with Advocacy Day activities to provide a hands-on, engaging learning experience.
