The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued proposed regulations and a new form to address the requirements of the Notice of Observations Treatment and Implications for Care (NOTICE) Act. This is scheduled to go into effect August 6, 2016.

Dr. Abbey will describe various aspects and provisions of the NOTICE Act, including what it mandates, the complications connected to observation, how to complete and review the actual form, and review the use and impact of Condition Code 44. Also, he will discuss special issues surrounding inpatient versus observation services, and as well as the use of the standardized Medicare Outpatient Observation Notice (Moon) form.
