MACRA: Successful Implementation Strategies to Maximize Reimbursement

his course will explain the MACRA proposed rule and the new Medicare‐Based Incentive Payment System (“MIPS”) and the Alternative Payment Models (“APM”) that will impact physician reimbursement in 2019. MACRA will supersede and sunset the sustainable growth rate (“SGR”) adjustment, the Physician Quality Reporting System (“PQRS”), the Value Modifier (“VM”) and the meaningful use incentive payments. This course will explain how physicians will be scored based upon quality, resource use, clinical practice improvement activities and advancing the use of information technology starting in 2017. The physicians score will impact either a positive or negative payment adjustment for the physicians’ reimbursement starting in 2019. The faculty will explain how the scoring and calculation will work and the proper actions necessary to proactively maximize a positive adjustment. This course will explain how the physician reimbursement changes will impact hospitals that employ physicians to assist with strategic growth and support financial viability. In addition, this course will review the APM models and the bonus payment available to physicians that participate in APMs. MACRA is transitioning physician reimbursement from a fee for service to a payment based upon value and quality through two models that will immediately impact providers. It is imperative for healthcare providers to learn about MACRA, MIPS and APMs to be viable and to positively impact reimbursement.
