This webinar will provide an overview of the 2017 ICD‐10 coding updates that went into effect on October 1, 2016. The partial ICD‐10 code freeze ends with mandated code updates of thousands of ICD‐10‐CM and ICD‐10‐PCS. The code updates occur at the same time that Medicare lifts the moratorium on issuing denials for incorrect code assignments for codes if the code selected was in the correct family of codes. The value‐based payment system will be based on 2017 claims data. Coding accuracy with appropriate documentation to support it becomes paramount to success revenue cycle management. The webinar will discuss significant ICD‐10 changes and how they relate to documentation guidelines.
