Risks & Rewards of e-Communications & Social Media in Health Care Part I: Texts, E-mails & Electronic Communications
Just as in society at large, health care providers are increasingly relying on texts, e-mails, and messaging apps to communicate with each other and with patients. While electronic communications may improve response times and encourage dialog, the use of these communication methods raises serious compliance and liability concerns. Providers must understand the benefits and drawbacks of these tools, as well as best practices for their use, in order to protect the integrity of their medical record documentation and minimize their risk. This presentation assists health care providers in identifying those risks and practical strategies for successfully using these technologies.
