During this session, Elliott and Robert will be discussing the use of non‐physician practitioners (NPP) in hospital and outpatient settings including how to avoid legal and regulatory trouble from utilizing NPPs, how to structure audits to ensure that NPP use is in accordance with regulatory requirement, and how to use NPPs in a manner that promotes financial economy while remaining in compliance with relevant rules. They will discuss non‐compliance issues related to the use of and billing of NPPs, mid‐level credentialing, beneficial hiring practices of NPPs, considerations when utilizing non‐physician personnel, and best practices for internal and external audits to ensure compliance with these various issues.
