Help Me. Don’t Hurt Me. Reducing Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections
Marilyn McEntyre will discuss the process for reaching the goal of their project that was to decrease the number of catheter‐associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) and our CAUTI rate by 25% for FY2015 when compared to FY2014, with FY being from July‐June.
After analyzing and determining factors contributing to their CAUTI occurrences, Marilyn and her team determined that changing the policy and/or process alone did not work to decrease our CAUTIs. The speaker will share why the engagement of the front‐line nursing staff was crucial, and how the culture change along with the policy and process change led to their success in reducing CAUTIs.
