Post Anesthesia: A Team Approach to Patient Care

Join Southeast Community College in their new state-of-the-art Health Science Building for this intensive one day course is designed for health care professionals caring for patients in the immediate post-operative period. The day will be divided into a two-part learning experience including classroom and lab/simulation activities.

Classroom topics and simulation scenarios will include:
• Identification of common medications used during surgery and conscious sedation procedures
• Recognition and management of potential post-operative (anesthesia) complications, including side effects related to intraoperative medications
• Development of skills for effective team communication and safe patient handoff
• During collaborative simulation scenarios small groups will incorporate classroom content to increase confidence in post anesthesia patient care
