Many existing health care facilities contain electrical power systems and electrical power supply systems that were installed prior to modern requirements for installation, reliability, design and location. With the adoption by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Service (CMS) of 2012 National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 101 and 99, adoption of referenced NFPA sections requires review by facilities. This presentation will cover key components of these sections and what facilities personnel should consider when upgrading their systems. Concepts to be reviewed include facility design, testing and upgrade challenges.
