his educational activity is for health care providers who care for the acutely injured patient population. The symposium will cover different aspects of care for trauma patients and how to approach individual cases for the best outcomes.

Symposium Objectives
At the conclusion of this symposium, the participant should be better able to:

1. Describe the challenges of treating critically injured trauma patients in the rural setting.
2. Review management and prioritization of treatment for critically injured trauma patients.
3. Discuss the challenges and possible adverse effects of adequate pain management of the critically injured trauma patient.
4. Give examples of new trends and treatment options in chronic pain management.
5. Explain the recovery process of various trauma survivors and the unique challenges they face based on their specific injuries.
6. Discuss the team-based approach of treating trauma patients with concomitant injuries.

This symposium is designed for pre-hospital personnel, nurses, advanced practice providers, emergency medicine physicians, primary care physicians, physicians providing trauma and/or critical care, residents, students, and other interested health care providers.
